The training center presents three NECA/IBEW Local 48 apprenticeship programs, each designed to train apprentices in a licensed craft and officially register them through the State of Oregon’s Apprenticeship Division.

Every one of our three programs equips apprentices with the essential prerequisites to qualify for the Oregon State Journeyman license exam and, if applicable, the equivalent Washington Journeyman license exam.

NECA & IBEW Joint Apprenticeship Program FAQs

Aspiring electricians can apply to one of three apprenticeship programs through the Northwest Electrical Industry Training Center (NIETC), a partnership supported by NECA contractors and IBEW Local 48. Apprentices earn wages and hands-on training while completing coursework and experience needed for Oregon or Washington journeyman licensing. Program options include Inside Electrical (general journeyman electrician), Limited Energy-A Technician (low-voltage systems), and Limited Residential Electrician (residential wiring).
Apprentices and journey-level electricians can access continuing education in emerging technologies such as electric vehicle infrastructure (EVITP), advanced electrical systems, and other state-licensed craft preparation through NECA- and IBEW-supported training programs.
